Our phones go everywhere we go. We always have a camera in our hand. Being the reality that we all live in, we're all "photographers" by definition. With that thought in mind, why should you pay a professional photographer to capture images of you and your business? I'm so glad you asked because I really enjoy explaining this to people.
A professional Brand Photographer knows what you need.
You should know that most photographers aren't Brand Photographers. They're familiar with other photography niches, but they're more likely to pose you the same way they would if you were just another client. A Brand Photographer knows that there is more involved in a session for businesses than the coffee cup image. If you'd like to see an entire gallery of a past Branding client, message me and I'll send that to you as soon as possible.
You should know that most photographers don't give you a commercial use license. Anytime a business is using images for business, a license for use needs to be in hand. You're in business to make money, so you can expect to pay more for these Branding Images than you would for images intended for personal use. The commercial use license allows you to use the images for your business exclusively.
You should know that most photographers watermark their images. It's important to them that people know who took that image. This has been a discussion I've had with both clients and photographers alike. I still believe I'm okay not putting my watermark on my images. The images I take for you are representing your business. I consider it a bonus if you tag me in them, but it's not required.
You should know that most commercial photographers charge by where the images are being used. Book covers, social media, billboards - use any of them with the images I take of your business. It's your business. You have the right to feature them in any ad you'd like. The fee I charge includes the right to put them wherever you see fit. The only thing I'm not okay with is you selling them to someone else for their use.
You should know that most photographers won't allow you to edit their images. They shoot their images to match their style. This one is important if you're using filters to make your images cohesive to your brand. As a Brand Photographer, I understand that you may need to alter them to fit your brand aesthetics. I allow you full rights to do just that.
You should know that most photographers don't include a plan. Your Brand Images are a custom stock library for your personal use. Once you've used up that library, you'll need more images to continue posting to your social media. Traditional photographers don't think about you as a business, so they won't suggest you get on the calendar for another Branding Session. Instead, you'll need to plan to get in contact with them again. I offer different Branding Sessions to fit your needs.
A professional Brand Photographer has experience.
We tend to see things differently. When most people take a photo, they're not careful to pay attention to their surroundings. For instance, there may be a distracting background that would draw one's eye away from the details you're wanting them to notice. I look around and see if something needs to be rearranged before I take the shot.
We notice the little things. This one is my favorite. Have you taken a photograph and after uploading it realized that an earring was backward, a tag was showing on your clothing, or hair was out of place? I know I'm not the only photographer who carries a small arsenal of things to help the day of our photoshoot. I carry hair spray, scissors, safety pins and things to help ensure that the little things aren't a distracting part of your image when we shoot.
We know that light is the key to photography. The time of day plays a huge part of whether an image is well lit. A poorly lit image can completely ruin the user experience. Whether it's rain or shine, a professional photographer can make an image look good. Studio lighting is transportable, so I've always got what I need to make sure your images look great in the camera.
We ask questions before we begin. A photographer that works with businesses to influence their social media and website, knows the right questions to ask to ensure we're reaching your target client. This is where it's good for you to know who that potential client is. If you have more than one "Judy", I can photograph differently for each of their personas.
Brand Photography is a way to up-level your business.
No matter what business you're in, someone in your field is getting noticed because of their brand images. Shouldn't that someone be you?! Yes! Get in touch with me and let's discuss how being the face of your brand can help your business.
Oh! I almost forgot to mention that now through December 31st I'm offering an introductory rate on my videography services.
