Recently I read some very interesting statistics about social media. Not only is it gaining momentum because of the times we're going through, but my favorite ones were about videos posted to social apps. There were different sources referring to how much video is about to change everything. One went on to say that more people are viewing videos on social media more than they are television. The most surprising one claims that Facebook will be purely video by 2022.
Why am I so interested in this? More importantly, why should you be? As a Brand Photographer, it's something I need to stay on top of to be relevant to my clients. If you're a business owner, you need to be aware of the changing trends too. So, here's some things you might want to know to keep up with the changes that can boost your social media algorithms.
Be Relevant
Similar to fashion trends, you need to know what is going on currently when it comes to social media. Hashtags didn't become popular till 2007 on Twitter. Since then, it's gained momentum all over social posts. Even LinkedIn users find them relevant today.
Be Helpful
Scores of people are selling products and services all across the world. I get it, businesses are in business to make money. What you need to understand is that unless people are ready to make a purchase, they're going to do their homework before they choose who/where to buy from. When they find your helpful article about why they should choose X over Y, that article will likely gain their trust, and more than likely they'll choose to purchase X from you because you were helpful.
Be Sincere
If you sincerely enjoy volunteering for a local nonprofit, tell people about it. Tell them what it is that drew you to help them. Tell them what needs the charity has. Tell them how they can help too. Link back to the nonprofit and be their cheerleader. (It's one of my favorite things to do. I support The Martin House, CAC every chance I get.)
Being sincere can be vulnerable. It's okay. It's a good thing to be genuine when you share about yourself on your website and social media.
Be Uniquely You
This is my soapbox. If there's anything I can tell you that will help you more than anything, it's this, be uniquely you. This one thing will differentiate you from everyone else who does what you do or sells what you sell. Whether you're a cowboy boot-wearing Texan, a lover of all things vintage, or spend the weekends on the beach, you have the chance to connect with ideal clients who get you by showing them the real you.
How Can You Do All of These Things?
How can you do all of this? By posting consistent content with images and videos that work all this magic for you. That's where a Brand Photographer can really help you out. I'll book a consultation with you to discover all of the above. From there we'll decide what, when, where, and how we'll be able to attract your ideal client to you. We'll discuss any props or clothing that will resonate with them and even talk about if we need to photograph you in your home, your workplace, or a vacation destination. Ready to get started? Click here and I'll get back with you soon.
Until then,
Zoe
