Have you ever felt insecure? That you weren't pretty enough? Maybe thin enough? Or thought you had a body flaw? Ladies, and even gentleman, I can tell you that you are not alone. Even supermodels struggle with body-conscious issues. None of us are happy about something we see in the mirror.
Would you believe that you're gorgeous just the way you are?! I know you. I've been there. I've not believed it and I've believed it.
My husband doesn't see me the way I see me. He's a super wonderful man! He constantly tells me he loves the me he sees now over the me I was when we first married. (Told you he was super wonderful!)
We all need that. Someone to remind us that we are beautiful. We are more than what we see in the mirror. We are gloriously created by God. He took the time to consider just where He would place our earlobes, what form our noses would take, and how tall or short we would be. I remind myself of this when I start calling out my not so well liked features.
Our personalities are a part of who we are too. No doubt you light up a room when you smile. THAT is a million dollar secret. When someone smiles, it just makes them even prettier. Don't you agree?
Being honest about what makes you insecure helps me, as your photographer. If I know that you prefer yourself photographed on a certain side, I'll be intentional to guide you into a pose that you'll be pleased with. If you're unhappy with your arms, I'll suggest wardrobe styling to flatter you. No matter what you think, I see you for you who you are. You are a one of a kind created being. Unique in every way.
This carefree looking lady is my sister. Would you believe she has body issues?! (Trying so hard to hold back the "I told you so" right now.) Her personality is adorable. She's got an infectious laugh and absolutely lights up any space when she smiles! Crazy thing is you'd never know how much pain she's in on a regular basis. Migraines are an almost daily issue for her. Two car accidents have caused her chronic neck and back pain for years. She's very good at covering it.
Why do I tell you this? Because I want you to know that you may have to fake your smiles, but your smile will, in turn, make someone else smile. Not only that, but smiles naturally release endorphins that actually make you 1. feel happy and 2. reduce stress. Smiling is a win, win!
Give it a try, next time you're walking past someone, instead of looking down or away, make eye contact and smile.
And now that this blog post is coming to an end, I would appreciate it if you would comment something you DO like about yourself. I'll go first. I DO like my fingers. Maybe one day I'll share why with you.
Oh! And if you'd like to see yourself the way I see you, message me and let's start that conversation!
Blessings,
Zoe

Terisa Brenna - This is SO beautiful and resonates with me deeply. I recently came into the awareness that I should not only LOVE myself. But to also CHERISH myself the way Source (God) does. To do any of the sort otherwise would almost be dishonoring Source and the beautiful gift we've been given: TO BE. When I'm clouded by dark thoughts, I try to remember to see myself through Father/Mother Gods eyes. Then it's a whole new game and my perspective changes (usually followed up by watery eyes and a soul hug from God). Thank you for writing this beautiful post. You're work is amazing!!
