When a building has a strong foundation it can last through hard winds, heavy rains, weather and such. Businesses are much the same way. It's crucial for them to have a good foundation with which to build. To take it one step further though, look at each individual in your business. If each of the members of your team had a great support system at home, wouldn't that strengthen your work? I believe it would.
At home I have the best support system I could ask for! Over five years ago I told my husband that of all the things I've ever done, the one constant was photography. My parents had given me a Kodak 110 camera at a young age. Whenever there was film in it, I was photographing something! I still have some of those 1980's images. Since 110's were small and light weight, my friends could rely on me to take it with us wherever we went. The band always had portraits of our events because my camera went with me.
Sometime in my teen years, I got my hands on a 35mm. You should see the plethora of images I have of my college days. It's a wonder I ever got any assignments completed. After college, my Mom bought me a better 35mm. It was heavily used when my husband's family chipped in and bought me a Canon Rebel. I was elated! By that time, we'd already had two children and moved away.
Shortly after our youngest was born I decided that having a “good” camera wasn't enough. I needed to educate myself so I could get better. I took some courses and I practiced. Another move later my husband decided I needed better than an entry level camera and he bought me a Canon 7D. It was awesome! That's when I started my business five years ago.
When that camera needed to be cleaned I contacted Angela at Studio 1401 and asked her where she'd suggest getting it done. We talked for awhile and I asked her if she'd mind looking at my website and critique it for me. She said she would. A couple of days later she asked me if I wanted to be a second at weddings. And that's where I've been till now. Hello, Longview

PS This lovely image was taken by my fourteen year old! I set the settings and he took the shot. Not bad for an amateur, right?!
