When your life is out of balance you don't feel incredible. You feel stressed, overworked, and under appreciated.
YOU ARE ENOUGH!
You need to hear that. You need to see that. You need to believe that.
Too often we are so focused on other people's needs, our children, our husband, our boss, that we don't take the time to take care of ourselves. I know because I've been there. For years I let my needs take a back seat to everyone else's. Do you know that feeling of overwhelm? Absolutely. It can almost suffocate you at times.
That's why I stepped back and looked at what I needed. I needed to feel good about myself. I was so wrapped up in making sure that the people I cared about had everything I could provide for them, nurture, admonition, love, that I was draining myself. I needed to find my focus.
If you've been there, you know what that's like. Here's the thing,
YOU ARE AMAZING!
Don't believe anyone who tells you differently. We all hit detours along the way, but we need to get back on the highway and get on with our travels. Yes, some things take us off the beaten path longer than others. Sometimes it may feel like we'll never make it back, but you will, you can, you must.
Do something for YOU. Whether it's a walk on a serene trail, cuddling up with a good book, rolling the windows down while you sing your heart out (I do this pretty often.), grab a friend who won't do anything but listen and let it all out. Go ahead. You'll gain some clarity after doing any of those things.
However, one of my favorite things to do when I feel like my world is caving in is to find someone else who is having a harder time than I am and doing something for them or with them. If you stop and think about your next-door neighbor who recently lost a spouse or maybe an acquaintance whose health isn't well, you will realize that your struggles aren't the only ones happening right now. You can be their light. Buy them a puzzle and wrap it in a decorative gift bag, leave it with a note of encouragement. Stop by with balloons and a card that says "I'm thinking of you." Offer to take them out for tea.
When you pull yourself out of your shell you'll discover that
YOU ARE A BLESSING!
Maybe this is something you needed? I would absolutely love for you to share something you've done for yourself or someone else recently in the comments. Go ahead. What joy are you finding in your journey?
