I was honored that Heartisans Marketplace asked me to photograph their 2018 Graduation Ceremony this past weekend. Eighteen ladies who had completed the program are now better prepared to continue a self-sufficient life. If you're not familiar with Heartisans Marketplace, I highly encourage you to check it out online. Once you understand how the job-training program works, you'll want to go into the store to help them on their journey.
When I went in, I didn't realize the shop was for bettering women in the community, but that made it all the nicer to want to buy something! There are individual rooms where volunteers hand sew, embroider, crochet, and monogram items to sell just for Heartisans. Not only that, but local vendors offer their wares to be a blessing to the ladies. There are so many different kinds of gift giving choices and you'll for sure want to get something for yourself once you've seen everything.
Take your time. There are kitchen, bathroom, baby, self care, and men's products all displayed beautifully throughout the store. I'm so glad I discovered this little east Texas gem!
If you're looking for a place to volunteer, I know they always appreciate whatever time you have to spare. Not crafty? No worries. They will help guide you in the ways of the work. I've had the privilege of seeing a group of ladies come in and make soaps and lip balms together. I had just as much fun photographing them helping as they did actually making the products.
To the graduates of the Heartisans program, you have been given a great blessing, the investment of others time and love. May you pay it forward and bless others with these same things. Luke 12:48 says, "...for unto whomsoever much is given, unto him shall be much required..." As you know, Love serves.
So happy to watch you all smile from ear to ear knowing that you are a better person because of the time you invested in yourselves through Heartisans. Seeing you all surrounded by your family, friends, volunteers, and mentors was touching.
Have you been into the store? If so, tell me, what was your favorite item?!
Blessings,
Zoe
