Now that I'm pulling away from the large number of photography genres that I've photographed the last five years, I had to decide what my niche was going to be. This proved more difficult than I first thought. Initially, it seemed right to go back to my original love; babies. However, as the years go by, the more my body dislikes getting down on the floor molding those precious bundles.
It probably surprises my Studio 1401 clients that I'm changing course. My hubby is probably not thrilled with me either. When I decided to cuddle newborns, it was necessary to procure an inventory of props, large and small, with which to put them in, dress them in, and photograph them with. For this reason, I have oodles of props which I no longer need. (Love you anyway, Boo!)
After much contemplation, I've decided that personal branding, business headshots and commercial photography are going to be my niche. Headshots may seem like a necessary evil to some, but anyone who knows me will tell you that one of the reasons I do what I do is because I enjoy the session so much! It's not just a way to make money for me, it's what I love to do! Getting to meet new people and finding out more about them gives me a little rush.
While we're talking about negative things, I'd venture to say the reason some people don't like having a personal image taken is that they've not had a good experience with them in the past. Either that or they didn't like the way they looked in the end. I'm not a magician, but I am sincere. We'll work together to make sure that 1. you enjoy being in front of my camera and 2. you're happy with the result.
Counting down the days till I am able to open my doors to new friendships, new clients, and new opportunities!
Until we meet,
Zoe
