I've never been to Stars Over Longview before, but I certainly hope I am able to attend again! I'm sure the Women's Advisory Council has a difficult time narrowing down 12 deserving women out of the several dozens nominated.
I was a guest of a chosen star, Linda Fullman. She and all the stars given an award were very deserving. It was an honor to sit at her table and meet more of her friends.
It was also a blessing to hear all the testimonials of why each person deserved to be a star from colleagues and family alike.
The guest speaker, Caitlyn Crosby, has a touching story behind her business. If you're unfamiliar with The Giving Keys, please take a few minutes to learn more about them.
These women and so many more are making a difference in someone's life. It's not a tip in a jar kind of difference, it's a meaningful heartfelt gift of time, talents, and finances.
Whether you're male or female, please consider what makes you grateful, what are you passionate about? Give to that passion. I am so grateful for my Saviour's love, my family, and my past. It's not a past that I like to share, but it's a life that allows me to help others. I give every chance I get.
One of the stars said it best when she stated that no life should have roadblocks, just exits. Sometimes you just have to take a detour. (Now that I think about it, I wish I would have written it down to give her credit for the actual quote.)
I encourage you, no matter who you are, no matter what you've been through, get out there and be amazing! Whether or not you get recognized isn't the reason that should be motivating you. You should be there for someone because it's the right thing to do.
I'm a little motivated if you can't tell.
I'm getting off my soapbox now.
Huge shout out to Longview Regional Medical Center for celebrating this event for 19 years! Events like this take months of planning, organizing, setting up, and tearing down. It was a first class event that I'm sure will be talked about for a while.
On a side note, I introduced myself to Mr. Sam Smead. His wife, Libby, plays a big part in Stars Over Longview. He gets to support her by being the on-site photographer. It was nice to meet him as I know he's a staple photographer in Longview. Speaking of photography, if you'd like to see a few more images, please click on Events on my site.
Already doing something to help your community? Fantastic! I'd love for you to share it with me in the comments!
Blessings,
Zoe
