I AM SO EXCITED!!! Before we moved to town and I had decided what type of photography I wanted to niche to, I looked up other photographers in the area. This might surprise you, but there are A LOT of photographers in east Texas. Maybe that doesn't surprise you at all. While I would love to talk more about that, this post isn't about them, this post is about me.
One of the specific photographers I looked up was Angela Duncan. She's from here. She grew up here. She knows people here. She's a Personal Branding Photographer. If you're still not familiar with Personal Branding Photography, I'll briefly explain that it's photography for small business owners, entrepreneurs, and anyone looking to build their brand.
Why would I tell you about another photographer who offers Personal Branding Photography when I do the same? Because I've learned so much about competition this last year, and one of the biggest take aways is that it's okay to embrace the other people in your field. You already have one thing in common, maybe there's more! Plus, heaven forbid, if I were unable to do a shoot for some reason, I know who I can call to fill in for me.
Angela and I had breakfast a couple of weeks ago. She had me cracking up the entire time. I needed that. We talked work, we talked family, we talked everything. The cool thing was that before we parted ways I proposed we do Personal Branding Sessions for each other. Y'all, I'm excited because she agreed!
We decided to wait for some cooler weather to do our outdoor sessions, but I will be uploading those images as soon as I can!
When I do, you're going to see that THIS IS ME!
Planning is in the works now. We've got consultations, wardrobe styling, locations and all going into these sessions. Time of day and even location styling all play a part in the process. I'm on the hunt for a fun vintage dress. Think full circle skirt that has some flare. Something along the lines of "I Love Lucy" in blue or green. Maybe I can find one of each!
One of the neat things about having my own sessions is that I get to be where you're at. I am the client for these, so I am better able to understand the process from your perspective. I've had to send her images of what I would like. I've had to answer questions regarding my brand. She's had to come to my house to see the lighting and layout of the rooms. It's been a good thing.
I'm sure that when you and I meet to work on your branding session, I'll be better able to see things from where you are. All the better for both of us. And goodness knows if you're a curly girl like moi, I'll be watching for those fly aways. I feel your pain!
If you haven't already, get in touch now and we'll visit the ideas you have for your website and social media images.
Blessings,
Zoe
