The power of choosing! It's fun to have choices when you're looking at tempting desserts on that fanciful tray. Who doesn't let their eyes wander from the silky smooth raspberries on the cheesecake to the creamy chocolate drizzle on the black forest cake slice? But with all those options, it can be tough to decide on just one. That's where the power of friendship comes in! I know I'm not the only one that offers to get one if you'll get the other, right? How in the world does dessert have anything to do with branding?
Well, let's bring choice into the reality of a business. Especially when your business is fairly new. Today I was listening to a web designer speak about branding. (Always educating myself so I can in turn help educate my clients) I was tickled pink when she said that she tells her clients personally, that if they have x thousand dollars to spend and that's it, hire the photographer, not her.
Why would she tell them that? Because she's looking at what's in her clients best interests. She made it super simple by explaining that a logo, colors, a mood board are all good things, but without great images, that site is dull. She'd rather you invest in a photographer that knows how to direct you to get the best possible images for your brand and put those images on a drag and drop sight to SHOW who you are - because Personal Branding is powerful! Powerful images can make you look like a million bucks!
I agree a thousand percent! We've seen websites that had great potential with "okay" images before. Their copy may have been good, their message was clear and attractive, but those images lacked something. Those images are for more than your profile. They can be used on your social media, your website, your speaker bio, your book covers. It's important that you look good because that's what people will remember when they hear your name. It's more important than your logo.
Direction.
I will be your Director.
You've got a goal for your brand. You know your ideal client. You have a vision. Share those with me and we'll be able to convey your story to attract those people to you.
Some of the questions I'll go over with you are to help you see things the way a client would see them. Others to help your client see things from your perspective. I could just take images of you without a consultation, but ideally, you want images that are genuine. I know I do.
If you are a little silly when you're with your clients, I want to capture that. When you sign the deal, do you gift your client with something? Let's photograph the gift. Do you work on your laptop more than your desk? Where do you have it? On the couch, the floor, the bed? We'll want to show that space too. Do you tuck your hair behind your left ear when it falls in your face? When a call comes do you continue working while you speak? Is your snuggle puppy beside you when you read? Do you curl up in your throw blanket and nestle into your chair while you drink hot cocoa with marshmallows? Is that piece of art over your desk there to remind you that you are doing what you love in the place you love doing it? When you look at your website are any of those images there for your clients to connect with you?
Are you starting to see what I'm seeing? That's the end goal. We want your potential clients to see You that way too.
You need to embrace You.
That's a whole other topic in itself. One day soon I'll address it. In the meantime, let's keep this in manageable chunks.
If I conveyed something that you'd like to discuss further, just send me a message here. It's what I do. I enjoy being the person who helps you connect! Feel free to leave a comment below.
Blessings,
Zoe
