It has been so long since I myself showed up online. 2020 started out really well. Even at the beginning of shut down I was making Lives and trying to encourage others.
If I recall, "Be safe. Be wise. Be kind." was my motto then.
We were so worried. The fear of the unknown.
After two years of uncertainty, I finally decided that it's not going to be whatever "normal" looked like anytime soon. We have to be okay with that and keep living our lives.
Therefore, we have to show up. For many people, that is showing up online. On your website. On social media. On video calls.
Here's what I want you to know about showing up. If you are a business person, it's crucial that you show yourself as the authority in whatever business you're in.
Educate yourself and know what you're telling people.
Don't just take someone else's word. Study. Read. Take classes.
When I take the time to research social media and I know who my audience is, I know how to reach them. It has taken a lot of time to learn these things, but it's time well invested in my business.
As a business owner, I know I spend a lot of time working, but I find myself putting the proverbial cart before the horse when I don't schedule a time to learn what I need to learn to help my clients succeed. That's what we really need to be doing.
We need to be helping others.
You know so much about your business. I don't mean that in a sarcastic tone, but literally. You are the expert. How can that knowledge help your potential clients? Tell them.
When you write blog posts, record videos, offer promotions, show up as the face of your company.
It's my soapbox, I know, but when people see you, they connect you with your business. They know your business is yours. Show them how that relates to them.
They may not have a need for what you offer now, but they may eventually, or they will hear of someone else who needs what you offer.
While it may seem cut and dry to you, go into detail about what your services are and how you differ from your competitors.
To be honest, maybe your competitor's prices are less than yours, that's okay. If the client is price shopping for the best price, maybe that's not you, but if they're shopping for the best reviews, maybe that IS you. Find your strong points and tell people what they are.
Was this post for me too? You bet! I can relate to this entire blog. When I'm saying "you", in reality, it's me that needs it. Sometimes I talk to myself in my blog posts. Now you know.
Do you need to show up online more? Join me in making 2022 a better year for your business. Let me know in the comments if you are with me.
You Are Unique.
Own It.
